Welcome to Your Essay Builder: Learner Success Toolkit Guide.

If you have ever stared at a blank page and thought, “I do not know where to start,” you are not alone. Many students feel the same. This guide helps you get your ideas out of your head and onto the page clearly. It gives you a structure to follow so you always know what to do next.

This guide was designed with learning differences in mind and supports different learning preferences. Whether you like to see examples, try short tasks, listen to explanations, or work step by step, you will find something here that fits your way of learning.


How to Use This Book

Contents (top left of the screen):
This shows all main chapters and sections of the book.
Click any title to jump straight to it.

To move between chapters in order:
Use the Previous and Next buttons at the very bottom of each chapter page.

To find a specific topic quickly:
Use Search in the top right of the screen and type a keyword.

Interactive activities:
Use the on-screen buttons inside each activity to move through the steps.


Who This Guide Is For

This guide is for students who feel overwhelmed by assignments, are new to essay writing, or want a clear structure to follow. It is especially useful for students who are neurodivergent or who prefer step-by-step guidance. The guide supports different ways of learning by using clear examples, short tasks, and simple steps to help build confidence as you work through your assignment.

Important to Know

This is not an academic writing guide. It is a planning and starting tool designed to help you organise your essays step by step, reduce stress, and build confidence in your writing.

It does not cover grammar, advanced writing skills, researching information, or referencing. For more detailed and personalised support, you can use the Academic Writing Centre for writing guidance and the University Library for help with referencing and research.

The Academic Writing Centre offers personalised, advanced,  in-depth support with essay writing, structure and referencing.

The University Library runs skills sessions throughout the academic year to support your studies. These sessions cover how to search for information for assignments, develop a search strategy, reference correctly, and more. You can view upcoming training sessions and register online.
