Abstract

It is intended that this doctoral work integrates and continues the exploratory research project, funded by Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), entitled ‘Design and Integration of Wearable Prosthetics’. This project involves the exploration of a new paradigm related to the use of upper limb prostheses, combining the technical specifications of the prosthetic element with the design and user experience of the amputee. Specifically, in the doctoral work, we aim to, on the one hand, consolidate the acquired knowledge, as well as improve and continue the development of prototypes, resulting in a set of more effective products for their users. The study also includes an evaluation of digital healthcare solutions, in line with the HERIC 2D research project, also funded by FCT.
