Abstract
Current society benefits from technological advances that enable and encourage the sharing of knowledge. However, much of this knowledge is sometimes underutilised due to being held in closed archives, inaccessible to the public and researchers who might benefit from these resources. The gatekeeping of this knowledge is a hindrance to the valuation of cultural artefacts and practices, essential in helping communities create a stronger and more defined sense of heritage and cultural identity.
Through efforts in analysing case studies and promoting community engagement, the presented project aims to explore how design has and might further contribute to combatting these issues.
