Overview of the eBook Publication

This eBook is a consolidated from five original PDF booklets published on the Social Care Ireland website (Click here for details), brought together into a single, accessible digital resource. While the core content remains faithful to the original publications, some revisions and updates (see Updated Revisions from PDF Booklets) have been made to improve clarity, consistency, and navigation for readers.

Structure and Organisation

The eBook is structured according to the five CORU domains of proficiency for Social Care Workers. Each domain forms a main section or chapter grouping, and within each, you’ll find contributions from different authors who reflect on or explore a specific standard of proficiency. Each main section begins with a List of Contributors, outlining the authors linked to that domain. You can jump directly to these sections using the following links Domian 1, Domain 2, Domain 3, Domain 4, and Domain 5.

Each chapter is labelled using a shorthand code for easy reference. For example:

  • D1SOP3 refers to Domain 1, Standard of Proficiency 3
  • D3SOP7 refers to Domain 3, Standard of Proficiency 7

Each chapter clearly states:

  • The author(s) of the contribution
  • The domain and standard being addressed
  • Reflective insights, examples from practice, and interpretations of the standard’s application

🔍 Using the eBook – Navigation & Search

To help you find what you need, the eBook includes:

  • 📚 Clickable Table of Contents: Navigate through domains and individual standards quickly by clicking on the chapter titles in the menu.
  • 🔍 Search Function: Use the search bar at the top of the page to enter keywords, codes (e.g. “D2SOP5”), author names, or topics. This will show you all chapters where your search term appears.
  • 🧭 Chapter Navigation Buttons: At the bottom of each chapter, use the “Previous” and “Next” buttons to browse sequentially through the book.

This eBook has been designed to support student learning, professional development, and reflective practice. It invites readers to engage with CORU’s standards of proficiency through diverse lenses and lived experience, fostering critical thought and deeper understanding.
